Welcome
Welcome to the NEW JonesFamilyHomepage.comPlease sign our Guestmap to let us know you stopped by! Dad on October 29 2007 18:23Hello all. Just a quick note, since I haven't update everyone in a few weeks.
![]() The boys have finished the tournament for the "Miami Valley North" region. Joey and Caleb's team won the finals game 2-0 for one of the more exciting games this year. As the champions of the area, the team now goes to the state tournament in Hamilton Ohio on November 10th. Gregory's team, unfortunately, bowed out of the tournament in the semi-finals a week ago. They played hard and almost pulled off a win, but had the lower score at the end. Dad on October 15 2007 18:04If you are a music fan, check out the newly added JonesFamily Radio link on the left. Just some tunes to brighten your day.Â
Dad on October 14 2007 19:25Just a quick update. Both boys' soccer teams have moved on to the next round of the tournaments.Â
Joey & Caleb's team easily defeated their 8th seed opponents from Vandalia 8-0 to move on to round 2. Sean Gregory's team had a little more excitement to his game. The Red Strikers from Trotwood took the lead 4-3 with less than a minute to go in the game to pull off an exciting victory. Both teams will play next Saturday at the Northmont soccer fields in Englewood. Dad on October 07 2007 21:48The Trotwood SAY soccer season has wrapped up and we are getting ready to head to the tournament.
Joey and Caleb's team, the "Green Machine", finished up the season with an undefeated record of 10-0, and hold top ranking in their division. They should do fine during the tournament, as the team pretty much blew through the competition (8 of the 10 games ended with them not being scored on). The one team that may be a problem is the Dayton team, who went 9-1, and came close to beating the Green Machine. If they win the tournament, then they will play in the sectional tournament in Cincinnati. Sean Gregory's team, the Red Strikers, finished up their season with a record of 8-2. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where that ranks them in the division, but I think I heard one of the mom's say they were in 2nd place during the last game. Tournament begins next week, but not sure when they will play. Hopefully they will do well in the tournament as well. Good luck boys! Dad on September 26 2007 03:29![]() This past weekend, I officially became a Royal Ranger. For those that don't know what that is, Royal Rangers is a boys scouting organization centered on Jesus Christ.
Anywho, my sons have been involved for a couple of years, and the Senior commander (and good friend) of our church's outpost talked me into (read: suckered!) helping out as a record keeper. Since luring me into the position, he and others have been trying to convince me to go camping with the group. When I volunteered to help in the Rangers, I told the commander right up front that I would never go camping. Being the good friend he is, he decided he was not going to take no for an answer. Needless to say, after weeks of constant reminders (read: badgering!) about getting me to camp, as well as getting my three sons involved, I relented and said I would go on the next campout to get him off my back. Now I'm a person that absolutely despises camping. The last time I went camping was when I was about 10 years old. I hated it then, and I was not planning on doing it ever again. THAT'S WHY GOD INVENTED THE HOLIDAY INN!!! Debbie and the kids like it, so I send them off for a week or two during the summer. Well, this past weekend was the campout that I said I would go to. Believe me, I tried my best to get out of it, but it seems God had other plans, as not only the Ranger group reminded me I was going (no option), but other friends, and Deborah reminded me that I made a promise. I went expecting not the worst, but pretty darned close to it. The moment I got out of my car at the campsite, the mosquitos immediately welcomed me to the fair. By the end, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. I actually had some fun, and got to know some more of the guys from our outpost, but many guys from other church outposts from the area. Overall, not a bad weekend, not to mention the food was great! And not a hot dog in sight! (you do know the way to a guy's heart is through his stomach... :P ) So I'm official now. I just hope the next campout is close to a Super 8.... Dad on September 10 2007 14:08The summer has been a busy time here at the Jones abode. Vacation Bible Schools, our trip to South Carolina, and daily activities planned by Deborah has kept everyone pretty busy. I've been keeping busy with building websites, looking for a job, and an occassional job here and there. To save money, I've also done a few car repairs, like replacing the brakes on the van. That's quite a big step for "Mr. White Collar".
The boys are having a busy time right now too. School started two weeks ago, and the "teacher" has very high expectations for what they need to accomplish. They are also busy with Royal Rangers and earing merits for their advancements. Caleb was recently appointed to Senior Patrol Scout, the highest rank for a Ranger in his class. Joey was also voted to be the Patrol Scout for his group. Both of them also recently earned their "Gold Falcon" award (which is one-third of the way to the top advancement of "Gold Eagle").The boys are also in the middle of their soccer seasons. Joey and Caleb's team is the "Green Machine" and Sean Gregory is with the "Red Strikers". They play 10 games during the season, which runs through the first week of October. I've added scoreboards on the left side to show how their teams are doing. So far, Joey & Caleb's team is undefeated (YEAH!) The girls are staying busy as well. Mom is also keeping them busy with school. Ryleigh started Kindergarten this year, and is enjoying finally getting to be involved during school activities. Both girls are involved with Missionettes at church. We recently found out that Jeannah was "promoted" to Major in her group. She has been a Lieutenant in her group for some time, apparently, although she never told us a thing (Jeannah talks constantly, but apparently not about the important stuff). Dad on August 15 2007 00:32![]() Hello all. As you can see, the website updates are going well.
With the new site going in, I felt bad about ditching the old site, which was actually a Blogger.com site that we were using. DO NOT FEAR! I have changed it to use it as my personal blog, so none of the content is going away. You can find a link to it on the menu to your left, labeled as "Patrick's Blog" I will probably add stuff occassionally to the blog, but most family-oriented updates will be made here. Dad on August 04 2007 15:45 Welcome to the new home for the Jones family on the web at JonesFamilyHomepage.comUpdates are going well. We hope to have the site up and functioning within the next few weeks. |
